HAVE YOU GOT WHAT IT TAKES?
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR MEMBERSHIP:

Must be 19 years of age or older.

Live in the fire district served by the Torbay Volunteer Fire Department.

Have access to a vehicle.
-
Be of good character.
-
Be of good health.
WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU:
-
Commit to bi-monthly meetings and truck checks (every second Monday).
- Be available for regularly scheduled training drills and practices.
-
Respond to all emergency calls when available.
-
Assist with fire prevention, public relations and general administrative duties.
WHAT WE PROVIDE TO YOU:

All required training at no cost to you.

All required personal protective equipment.

Insurance coverage.
-
A small honorarium based on attendance and training.
-
A rewarding and valuable volunteer experience.
APPLICATION PROCESS:

Complete the attached application form and return it to the Town Hall during business hours, addressed to:

- When the department’s active membership falls below our regular numbers you will be scheduled for an interview with the Recruitment Committee.

You will be required to provide a Certificate of Conduct and a driver’s abstract.

All applicants will be ranked according to their scores from the interview and selection process and will be offered positions as recruits in the order of their ranking.

Successful applicants will join the department as Recruit Members and begin training at the Recruit Level.

After a six (6) month probation period is completed the Recruitment Committee reviews the recruits progress and a decision is made whether the applicant becomes an active member.
The successful Recruits then become “Active Firefighters” within the department.
