I was not aware that you were having fireworks. Why could it not have been announced on you public alert system? My 2 Dogs were terrified, as well as it was quite concerning to see fireworks in such a dry period. A grass or forest fire could easily have been triggered. I think fireworks should be banned other than in the Wintertime anyway. In future, it should be announced on your Torbay alert system. Not everyone checks your website and some of us have animals that are quite afraid of these exercises in futility that are known as “fireworks”.

We apologize that you were not aware of the fireworks show. We made every effort to make residents aware of the event, as it was announced back in July on our Facebook page and Twitter feed. In addition to our website, there were several posts made on our social media, an announcement in Torbay Talks, and a notice posted to the town sign. We will certainly take your suggestion under consideration regarding adding a notice to our town alerts system when fireworks are to take place in the future.

Safety is a priority for the Town of Torbay and the Torbay Volunteer Fire Department was on site to monitor the event.
