Food Preserving and Storing
Drying, freezing, canning, fermentation, and pickling with Shawn Dawson (Barking Kettle) and Dan Rubin (Perfectly Perennial Herbs and Seeds.) We invite participants to bring with them some fruit either fresh or dried, particularly fruit they have grown or gathered, to be used in making preserves and canning them during the workshop. We will provide the needed canning jars, jar lids, sugar and salt, and will send each person home with a jar or jars of mixed fruit preserves. This session will also cover other methods of food preservation: drying, freezing, fermenting, pickling and root cellaring.
