How can you help prevent the spread of COVID-19?

The Town of Torbay asks all residents to do their part to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Please practice social (physical) distancing by maintaining a distance of at least 2 m/6 ft from others. Avoid crowds and large gatherings.

Practice good hygiene habits including washing your hands frequently for at least 20 seconds with soap & water or alcohol-based hand rub; avoid touching your eyes, mouth, and nose; and cover your cough or sneeze with the bend of your elbow or a tissue (if using a tissue, please immediately dispose of it in a closed garbage receptacle). If you are unwell please stay home. Those at higher risk of complications from COVID-19 are asked to please stay home except for essential travel, such as picking up supplies or groceries.

According to the World Health Organization, coronaviruses may persist on surfaces for a few hours or up to several days depending on the type of surface and temperature/humidity. If you think a surface may be infected, clean it with simple disinfectant to kill the virus and protect yourself and others.
