UPDATE: Hydrant Flushing
The Town of Torbay’s Infrastructure and Public Works Department, Water and Sewer Division, would like to advise residents that our annual hydrant flushing program commenced on June 7th and will continue through June into early July.
Below are approximate dates, which may change as we move along in the process or as other pending items come up. Flushing will be daily 9:00 am – 3:00 pm.
Completed – June 7-10 Start in Reddy Drive Area, working down towards Torbay Road,
Completed – Down Torbay Road towards Bridge Road Area, along with portions of Indian Meal Line and Lower Street,
June 14-17 – Up the North Side towards Thornes Lane and on to Dunphy’s Lane, them on to Bauline Line, Patrick’s Path, Country Drive Areas
June 21-24 – Marine Drive Area
Residents can expect reduced water pressure, discoloration, and momentary interruption of water service during the flushing program. The Town advises residents to please refrain from doing laundry during these times as discoloration may cause staining of clothing.
If your water is discolored, please run your outside tap or bathtub until clear. After flushing is completed, it may be a good time to drain your hot water tank to remove any build-up of sediment, which can extend the life of your tank.
