Town of Torbay to Recognize National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
The Town of Torbay is joining the Federal and Provincial Governments to recognize September 30th as the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. The Town will close all Town facilities for the day out of respect for the Indigenous community.
The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is a time to honour survivors of residential schools and those who never came home. To help raise awareness about the terrible legacy of residential schools in Canada the Town is encouraging all residents and employees to take time on September 30th to reflect and learn more about the impact of residential schools in our province and country. Each citizen has a part to play in making the province better for everyone, and that starts with greater understanding of all individuals and their histories.
We encourage residents to learn more about the history of residential schools.
