TOWN OF TORBAY PUBLIC CONSULTATION: Update, Expansion & Amendment of Subdivision Engineering Guidelines
The Town of Torbay has commenced a review of its Subdivision Engineering Guidelines, which originally came into effect in February 2017, and outlines technical details and requirements predominantly regulating the development of residential subdivisions in Torbay. Torbay is partnering with MITACS, the College of the North Atlantic, professional engineers, and planners on the proposed amendment.
Council will update and expand the scope of the Guidelines to include, for example, conditions for commercial developments (architectural & landscape design, storm water management etc.), innovative environmental approaches, energy efficient building construction, details for land use impact assessments, residential infill development and urban agriculture.
Prior to preparing revisions to the Guidelines, the Town of Torbay is looking for your input and suggestions. How can the existing Guidelines be improved, what would you like to see added, revised or considered as our Town prepares the technical details on how we develop our land.
Please note, a separate Municipal Plan and Development Regulation Review will commence this year also. This consultation relates to the Subdivision Engineering Guidelines only.
The public is invited to view a copy of the existing Guidelines, ENGINEERING-DESIGN-GUIDELINES-FOR-SUBDIVISIONS or at Town Hall, 10:00 am – 3:00 pm, Monday – Friday.
Written suggestions may be submitted no later than Friday, April 29th, 2022. Submissions may be dropped off at the Town Hall, mailed or emailed to the Town’s Planning Technician at the following address:
