Town of Torbay Officially a Rainbow Registered Municipality

The Town of Torbay is officially a Rainbow Registered municipality.

The Town of Torbay is the first municipality in Newfoundland and Labrador to become Rainbow Registered, and one of a small number of municipalities throughout Atlantic Canada to earn this designation.

The Town has met a set of standards by Canada’s 2SLGBTQI+ Chamber of Commerce (CGLCC), to ensure the 2SLGBTQI+ community feels safe, welcomed and accepted. The CGLCC and Tourism HR Canada have collaborated to launch the national Rainbow Registered Accreditation Program for 2SLGBTQI+ friendly businesses and organizations.

“The Town of Torbay is a diverse and inclusive community and being Rainbow Registered aligns with our core values of diversity and inclusion, and we are proud to be a part of this important national initiative,” stated Mayor Craig Scott.  “By achieving the Rainbow Registered accreditation, we are recognized for our efforts in ensuring that our 2SLGBTQI+ residents, visitors and staff feel valued and respected.”

The Town plans on promoting this program to the local business community as well.
