Torbay’s Annual Hydrant Flushing Program Begins June 7th

The Town of Torbay’s Infrastructure and Public Works Department, Water and Sewer Division would like to advise residents that our annual hydrant flushing program will be commencing on June 7th and continue through the month of June into early July.

Below are approximate dates, which may change as we move along in the process or as other more pending items come up. Flushing will be daily 9 am – 3 pm

  • June 7 – June 9,  Starting  in the Reddy Drive Area working down towards Torbay Road along North Pond Road and Convent Lane,
  • June 12-16, Down Torbay Road towards Bridge Road Area, along with portions of Indian Meal Line and Lower Street
  • June 19-23, Up the North Side towards Thornes Lane and on to Dunphy’s Lane, them on to Bauline Line, Patrick’s Path, Country Drive Areas
  • June 27-30 Marine Drive Area

During the flushing program residents throughout the Town can expect reduced water pressure, discolouration, and momentary interruption of water service.  The Town advises residents to please refrain from doing laundry during these times as discoloration may cause staining of clothing.

If your water is discoloured, please run your outside tap or bathtub until clear.  After flushing is completed it maybe a good time to drain your hot water tank to remove any build up of sediment which can extend the life of your tank.

Updates on locations will be posted weekly if dates change. We thank you for your cooperation and apologize for any inconvenience.
