The Town of Torbay is accepting proposals to design a banner theme that celebrates Torbay’s 50th year of incorporation.
 
This call is open to residents of Torbay, of all ages and skill levels. Artwork will be selected by a volunteer selection panel from community organizations.
 
The design will be reproduced on banners that will be displayed in front of the Torbay Town Hall. In addition, the banner will be utilized on promotional items and all advertising throughout the year. Town of Torbay’s 50th Anniversary


Project Overview and Objective

The Town of Torbay is accepting proposals to design a banner theme that celebrates Torbay’s 50th year of incorporation.

This call is open to residents of Torbay, of all ages and skill levels. Artwork will be selected by a volunteer selection panel from community organizations.

The design will be reproduced on banners that will be displayed in front of the Torbay Town Hall. In addition, the banner will be utilized on promotional items and all advertising throughout the year. Special events will be planned for the community from July 1 – September 30, 2022. Events will include the opening of the History House, Pat Dawe Softball Tournament, a dinner there, youth dance, antique car show, fireworks, a quilt show, swearing in of Torbay residents, music in the park and so much more! There will be something for all ages.

Suggestions Regarding Artwork

  • Use colours that are deep and provide contrast.
  • The artwork submitted must fill the entire space of the paper provided – from edge to edge. No borders.
  • Digital artwork is also accepted.
  • Do not include text as part of the banner design.
  • Consider scale and distance of the viewing audience. Use large scale images.
  • If the resident chooses to produce a larger image (two sheets of paper), design should be taken into the account for the separation of two banners by a pole (please see below for illustration).

Banner Selection Process

  • Artwork will be selected by a volunteer selection panel comprised from community organizations.
  • Chosen artwork will be professionally digitized.
  • Banner placement may be on a single or double banner pole. The Town of Torbay logo will be added to the bottom of the design.
  • The selected submission will be notified during the week of May 9-13, 2022.
  • $250 will be awarded for the selected artwork.

Submission Guidelines

  • Participants are limited to a maximum of two entries
  • Participants must be a resident of Torbay
  • Digital designs should be a minimum of 300dpi as .JPG, EPS or AI files
  • Original artwork is required. Photographs or scans will not be accepted.
  • On the back of each submission, please include:
  • Full name
  • Age (if under 18)
  • Phone number and
  • Email
  • The winning entry will be required to complete a waiver and photo release form.

Deadline for Submissions is Wednesday, April 27, 2022, 4:00pm. Please drop off entries to the Torbay Town Hall or Torbay Common Community Centre.
