Atlantic Mayors Congress Meets in Torbay
Mayors from the four Atlantic Provinces meet in Torbay beginning Thursday evening, May 26th. Torbay Mayor Craig Scott will be hosting this semi annual gathering of Atlantic Mayors. This will be the 42nd meeting since the organization began in 2001. The Congress examines issues and emerging best practices. The Congress frequently finds consensus on issues that results in a united voice and collective initiative.
This week’s meeting will feature the most current information on such topics as pandemic protocols, the current housing crisis, responding to the needs of Ukrainians displaced by the war, solar energy, initiatives through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, public private partnerships for community facilities and a report from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities featuring Canada-wide municipal issues. At the opening reception Thursday, May 26th, the Honourable Krista-Lynn Howell, Minister of Municipal and Provincial Affairs, will bring greetings on behalf of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.
An agenda is included with this briefing note to invite and guide access by all media outlets. Please alert us when you will join us for a presentation. For interviews, please contact us prior to arriving at the meeting site.
