Killick Coast Games 2018

Over 450 athletes ages 11 – 17 participated in the 2018 Killick Coast Games from August 18th – August 23rd, in the following sports:

  • Soccer
  • Softball
  • Ball hockey
  • Basketball
  • Cross country running

A demo for wheelchair basketball took place and each town had the opportunity to participate in scrimmages thanks to the support of Mr. Gary Power, President of the Wheelchair Sports Association NL.

CONGRATULATIONS
Congratulations to athletes and coaches from the towns of Torbay, Portugal Cove-St. Philips, Pouch Cove, Flatrock, Bauline and Logy Bay-Middle Cove-Outer Cove.

Congratulations to the team Logy Bay-Middle Cove-Outer Cove (LMO) on winning the Jack Byrne Trophy for the most overall points. Thank you to Bridget Byrne who attended the closing ceremonies and presented this trophy to the athletes of Logy Bay-Middle Cove-Outer Cove.

Congratulations to team Pouch Cove, Bauline, Flatrock (PBF) on winning the Mayors Cup for the team who displayed the most spirit throughout the week.

The Killick Coast Games has expanded over the past 12 years from 300 participants to over 450 participants. These games take many hours of planning and preparation not only by town staff, but the support of Provincial Government for assisting with $ 10,000.00 in
funding for the games, Recreation Newfoundland Labrador were happy to jump on board this year, Eat Great and Participate Coordinator for assisting with the menu to support the Healthy Eating Policy, and the Federal Government.

  • Thank you to John Hanlon who made it possible for the use of Holy Trinity High School for our Wheelchair Basketball and rainout games
  • Thank you to MHA Parsons, Mayor Scott, and Mayor Wall for the numerous games you umpired
  • Thank you to Team Community Services both full time staff, summer staff, and Public Works staff. Your energy and enthusiasm throughout the week was absolutely amazing
  • Thank you to all Killick Coast Mayors and Councils for your support.

We look forward to participating in the 2019 Killick Coast Games in the Town of Portugal Cove-St. Philips, July 20th – 26th.

    My son was in the games with PBF. He had a great time. Games were organized well and went off great. Congrats to all winners!! Congrats to all players of Killick Coast games. Thank you Town of Torbay and all volunteers for making it happen. See you all next year in PCSP!!
