Help the Town of Torbay win $100,000 to support recreation! June 1 – 30

Get moving, connect with others and track your active minutes to help us win the Community Better Challenge. The most active community will win $100,000 for recreation!

About the Challenge
The ParticipACTION Community Better Challenge is a nationwide initiative that rallies communities to sit less and move more. The goal is to engage families, friends, neighbors, schools, organizations, businesses, and fellow community members to get active and track all physical activity through the ParticipACTION mobile app from June 1 – 30, 2022.

If you are in the business of active programming, you can sign up as an organization and track your group’s active minutes throughout the month of June on the ParticipACTION website. Schools can log physical education class participation, teams and clubs can log minutes for practices and games and gyms can log group workouts.

Encourage your members/clients to log their individual physical activity in the ParticipACTION app through the month of June. Follow our social media channels and share our messaging.

Every active minute counts!  Whether participating in sports, walking the dog, or working in the garden. Physical activity is important for everyone, at every age and we want our residents to build connections and remain engaged in a healthy and active lifestyle year-round.

Who can participate?
It is open to all individuals, organizations, and businesses. All minutes tracked on the app and website from June 1-30 count toward the Town of Torbay’s total score.

It’s easy to participate in the Community Challenge!

What Counts Toward Active Minutes?
The point of the challenge is to move in whatever way works for you! Work out at a fitness centre, or garden, walk your dog, play with your kids in a park or your backyard, do housework, walk, bike, golf, or pickleball, the options are endless. Count whatever gets you moving. Be sure to track every active minute, every day!

Track your Family’s Active Minutes
On the ParticipACTION website (not the app), you can add family members and submit their daily minutes too, especially if they are kids, don’t have a phone, or would prefer to not use the app.

Tracking Active Minutes as an Organization/Team
If you are an organization/team you can track group fitness classes/team practices/games as a whole. Visit the ParticipACTION website and sign up as an individual and then click “Track Organizational Minutes”. Complete your Profile (enter in details for the organization, school, etc). Then create a “New Activity” and add total minutes. Download a Step-by-Step Guide
