Hockey Day in Canada | Saturday, January 18th, 2025
Come celebrate Hockey Day in Canada with the Town of Torbay! Throughout the day on Saturday, January 18th, 2025, our Recreation and Community Services Staff will be putting off different events to help celebrate Canada’s game!
Sharpen up your skills and get ready to put it all on the line. We will be celebrating Canada’s national winter sport as part of Hockey Day in Canada. Participants will compete in various skills contests including a breakaway challenge, accuracy shooting, hardest shot, creative move and stick handling challenges for a chance to win a prize in their age group. Once the skills portion of the event has been completed, we will move into a friendly scrimmage to end the morning.
When: January 18th from 8:30am – 10:00am

Gather up your friends and family for an all-Canadian, Original 6 showdown. We will be showing the Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Montreal Canadiens game on the big screen in the multipurpose rooms and celebrating Hockey Day in Canada. Between periods we will be ripping open some hockey cards as part of our Hockey Card Break (see event details) & doing some trading. There will be a cash canteen to stock up on some snacks to watch the game with.

Calling all collectors! Come share in the joy of hockey card collecting as we rip some packs open in hopes of landing some big pulls. During the 1st intermission of the Toronto vs. Montreal game we will be running a hockey card break where participants who purchase a spot in the break will be randomly assigned a team and any cards pulled of that team will be theirs to keep. During the 2nd intermission, cards will be distributed and we’ll open the floor for some trading. Participants do not need to purchase a spot in order to participate in the trading portion. People purchasing a spot in the break do not need to be in-person at the break in order to participate.
