Call for Nominations – Chief McGrath Award – Deadline Extended
The towns of Torbay and Flatrock in partnership with the Torbay Volunteer Fire Department are pleased to announce that the creation of the Chief McGrath Award which will be presented annually to Grade 4, 8, and 12 students who are residents of the Towns of Torbay and/or Flatrock.
This award will be presented to students who best exhibit characteristics of leadership, commitment, community involvement, dedication and selflessness; while also being involved with various community groups and devoting time to volunteer initiatives.
Winners will be selected by judging committee comprised of individuals outside of the Town of Torbay, Town of Flatrock, and Torbay Volunteer Fire Department staff. Successful recipients will receive a personalized plaque and a cash reward of $100 (Grades 4 & 8) or $250 (Grade 12). Additionally, each local area school will receive a plaque to display with the winners of their appropriate grade level. Please note that any residents of the towns of Torbay and/or Flatrock are eligible for this award and does not have to attend one of the local schools within the area (Cape St.Francis Elementary, Holy Trinity Elementary, Juniper Ridge Intermediate, Holy Trinity High).
