Annual Hydrant Flushing Update
The Town of Torbay’s Infrastructure and Public Works Department, Water and Sewer Division would like to advise residents that our annual Hydrant Flushing Program is approximately 75% complete. We will be commencing flushing operations up the North Side towards Thorne’s Lane, on to Dunphy’s Lane, then on to Bauline Line, Patrick’s Path, and Country Drive Areas starting June 6, 2024. We estimate this will take 1 week to complete.
Flushing will be completed daily, Monday-Friday between the hours of 9 am – 3 pm.
During the flushing program residents throughout the Town can expect reduced water pressure, discoloration, and momentary interruption of water service. The Town advises residents to please refrain from doing laundry during these times as discoloration may cause staining of clothing.
If your water is discolored, please run your outside tap or bathtub until clear. After flushing is completed it may be a good time to drain your hot water tank to remove any buildup of sediment which can extend the life of your tank.
Hydrant flushing is a vital maintenance operation that improves water quality, extends the life of pipes, and ensures hydrants are functioning properly in the event of an emergency.
We thank you for your cooperation and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
