Amendment Notice | South Pond Watershed Amendment
The general public is invited to view a draft copy of proposed St. John’s Urban Region Regional Plan Amendment No. 7, 2023, Town of Torbay Municipal Plan Amendment No. 7, 2023 and Torbay Development Regulations Amendment No. 13, 2023.
The Minister of Municipal & Provincial Affairs has requested consultation on a proposed Amendment to the St. John’s Urban Region Regional Plan Map (SJURRP Amendment No. 7, 2023) to re-designate decommissioned water supply lands of the South Pond Watershed from Watershed Protection to Restricted Development, Regional Industrial, Rural, and Urban Development. The amendment will also include re-designation of Urban Development to Rural and Restricted Development.
The proposed Torbay Municipal Plan Amendment No. 7, 2023 will re-designate the subject lands from Watershed to Rural, Conservation, Industrial, and Comprehensive Development Area – Industrial.
The proposed Torbay Development Regulations Amendment No. 13, 2023, will re-zone the same areas of land from Watershed to Rural, Conservation, Industrial General, and Comprehensive Development Area – Industrial.
The above referenced amendments are proposed to be able to accommodate future development in the South Pond area. The public may provide any comments or concerns on the proposed change in writing, before the Minister and Council consider the adoption of the proposed amendments.
Draft amendment documents shall be on display for viewing at Torbay Town Hall and on the Town’s website at www.torbay.ca as of Monday, January 15, 2024. The deadline for written comments shall be 12:00 noon, Monday, February 5, 2024.
