Additional Outdoor Spaces Re-Opening
As the province enters COVID-19 Alert Level 2, The Town of Torbay is providing an update on its programs and services under these new guidelines.
In addition to areas re-opened under previous Alert Levels, effective Friday, June 26 at 12:00 noon, the following areas will be open and available to the public:
- Torbay Common community centre Playground
- Torbay Common community centre Skate Park (Limit of 15 persons at a time).
- Whiteways Area Open Space
Twice daily cleaning protocols for playground equipment, as per the provincial Chief Medical Officer, will be adhered.
The gates to Torbay Common will be open daily until dusk to allow access to the playground and skate park, and also allow residents to use area as a walkthrough for those walking from Shea’s Lane to Bauline Line. The Torbay Common building will remain closed to the public until further notice including no access to washrooms on the property.
Please note that the splash pad at Torbay Common will remain closed at this time. The Town is working with the contractor to address outstanding deficiencies in a timely manner and will advise when the splash pad will be open for residents’ enjoyment.
The re-opening of additional playgrounds is currently under review but will remain closed at this time. An announcement will be posted for residents once a decision has been made.

The Town of Torbay is working hard to ensure all public measures are adhered to and residents’ and staff’s health and safety are prioritized prior to opening Town facilities and spaces. As such, the re-opening of facilities will be an ongoing process.
Those using Town spaces and amenities are reminded to follow public health guidelines at all times. Please practice social (physical) distancing by maintaining a distance of at least 2 m/6 ft from others in public spaces. Practice good hygiene habits including washing your hands frequently for at least 20 seconds with soap & water or alcohol-based hand rub; avoid touching your eyes, mouth, and nose; and cover your cough or sneeze with the bend of your elbow or a tissue (if using a tissue, please immediately dispose of it in a closed garbage receptacle). If you are unwell please stay home.
Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.
